Originally authorized and defined in the 2003 Healthy Forests Restoration Act (HFRA), CWPPS represent the best opportunity available to address the challenges of the Wildland/Urban Interface in a way that brings comprehensive and locally supported solutions. Santa Barbara County is fortunate to have numerous communities go through the process of developing CWPPs. The Fire Safe Council received a grant to fund the San Marcos Pass CWPP in 2019 and recently received funding to create a CWPP for the Gaviota Coast. You will find all certified CWWPs in Santa Barbara County in this section.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council has staff to help support communities interested in becoming certified in the Firewise USA program. Learn more about the program and the benefits it provides in this short video highlighting our local community. Click HERE to view the video created by Ethan Turpin from the Burn Cycle Project.
