Originally authorized and defined in the 2003 Healthy Forests Restoration Act (HFRA), CWPPS represent the best opportunity available to address the challenges of the Wildland/Urban Interface in a way that brings comprehensive and locally supported solutions. Santa Barbara County is fortunate to have numerous communities go through the process of developing CWPPs. The Fire Safe Council received a grant to fund the San Marcos Pass CWPP in 2019 and recently received funding to create a CWPP for the Gaviota Coast. You will find all certified CWWPs in Santa Barbara County in this section.
In partnership with the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, a team of UCSB graduate students are surveying local communities in order to learn about what plants are commonly found near homes. The results of this survey will help the researchers choose plants for future flammability testing. Click HERE to complete the survey.
