In 2022, SBCFSC hosted two wildfire preparedness expositions. These community events were centered around wildfire education for Santa Barbara County residents and homeowners. At these two-day extravaganzas, attendees were able to mingle with local fire departments, interact with various tabling organizations, and take part in many educational activities. At the May event, attendees were lucky to experience the “Walk Into Wildfire” exhibit, which is an immersive dive into what it feels like to be in and around a wildfire. The highlight of both expositions was the Santa Barbara County Firehawk helicopter landing in the parking lot and staying for guests to explore. In 2023 and beyond we look forward to continuing these events, and have plans for additional educational opportunities.
