Regional Wildfire Mitigation Program

The Regional Wildfire Mitigation Program (RWMP) is a novel approach to wildfire mitigation. Fire Safe Council Director and UC Santa Barbara professor, Max Moritz, spearheaded a grant proposal to start a RWMP for the Santa Barbara County South Coast.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council is very lucky to have such talented individuals who contribute to the mission of the organization of increasing wildfire preparedness in Santa Barbara County through education and action. One of those talented collaborators is the local videographer Ethan Turpin from The Burn Cycle Project. Ethan has created several videos for the SBCFSC regarding wildfire preparedness. His newest contribution is Building Fire Resilience, explaining the Regional Wildfire Mitigation Program and it’s holistic approach to wildfire mitigation through the landscape, built, and community domains.

The program was funded by grants from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the California Climate Investments Fire Prevention Grant Program.
