Wildfire risk is based on several factors. These include fire history of an area, predicted intensity of a wildfire, a community’s exposure, and its susceptibility of having an ignition. Having a better understanding of the factors affecting your community can help you better prioritize your risk reduction activities. This section is devoted to resources to assist you on understanding and managing wildfire risk.
In partnership with the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, a team of UCSB graduate students are surveying local communities in order to learn about what plants are commonly found near homes.
