Stanford University’s Bill Lane Center for the American West, hosted a Wildfire Event trilogy based on their winter quarter “Environmental Governance and Climate Resilience” course.
During the June 25, 2020 panel, the discussion was based on training and safety among first responders battling wildfires during a pandemic. The June 30 keynote features Dr. Sarah McCaffrey of the U.S. Forest Service exploring why homeowners take active steps to mitigate their fire risk and offers recommendations for community preparedness. The final panel on July 9 explores the human dimensions of responding to wildfires in the face of COVID-19, including evacuations, shelters, and government coordination.
All three panel discussions, as well original research produced by students, can be viewed on the Bill Lane Center for the American Website: https://west.stanford.edu/projects/wildfire-west.
